What is Obesity?

Obesity is a condition in which there is excessive amount of body fat. It is different from being overweight, which means weighing too much. The weight may come from muscle, bone, fat and/or body water. Both terms mean that a person’s weight is greater than what’s considered healthy for his or her height

According to ayurveda (Charak Samhita) there are 8 types of undesirable people in the world, under which falls an obese person.

There are 3 dosha (Vatha, Pitta and Kapha) in every body which is responsible for our health. Any disturbances in those doshas causes illness in a human body. One of the illness is obesity.
